$275.00
Excellent Condition! Circa 1900s Northeastern woodland Native American sewing basket. This style was often made by the Wabanaki of Maine; however, tribal affiliation is unknown. Traditional turn of the century style braided sweetgrass “Flat” basket. 8″diameter x 1 3/4″ high. Both top and bottom of basket are woven exactly alike, making this basket strong and durable for frequent use.
These sewing baskets were originally used as storage containers for sewing supplies; thread, needles, scissors, pincushion, and other related supplies. This basket is in pristine condition for its age. Only one break in the inside cover of one standard, which does not affect the overall stability of the basket.
